Sedaris, It's Lovely

.

This evening I started pulling the weedy vines and overgrowth in the backyard.
I switched to proper garden shoes and garden socks. Flats are probably never a good idea while pulling weeds.

I bought the new David Sedaris book When You Are Engulfed in Flames a couple of months ago, then hid it away.

I prefer to listen to his audio books b/c he has a great story telling voice and hearing him read the essays makes them all the more funny. I bought the book b/c he had a book signing at Barnes and Noble in June (which I missed for an inexcusable reason) and I wanted at least one of the leftover autographed copies. I have been fighting the urges to read it b/c I am holding out for the audio cd, but this past week I caved.

This is my favorite already, and I am not even done. And really, any book that references What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? in the first 20 pages is probably bound to be a favorite.

Analog Home Book

I have been wanting to put together a book for Lo and myself for awhile now (probably through Lulu.com)...of our time here in this house. I started hi-res scanning some of the 35mm photos tonight.

Pearl's Own Place

So, as I last posted HERE Pearl had taken over poor Minou's special little soft bed by the window.

In noticing how much she enjoyed playing and resting in my daughter's hamper, we decided to buy her one of her own (hoping it would keep her out of Minou's bed).

It kind of worked. It makes her a little wired sometimes and she gets crazy wide eyed and dives into it after running down the stairs at full speed then attacks her toy while rolling and turning herself and the hamper over and over again throughout the foyer. But, she also likes to rest in it and enjoys being carried upstairs and downstairs while inside of it too.

I think she thinks she is invisible while in the hamper.

And over the past few days she has taken a strong liking to the box by my printer. This has become her special little box bed by the printer which keeps her out of Minou's little bed by the window, and we all hope it stays that way for awhile.
