Yesterday, while walking through a more wooded area of the backyard I happened upon a Passiflora incarnata L. (AKA May-pop or Passionflower). This vine is native to the US.
I don't think I have seen one in person since I was 12, which was the first time I ever saw one. It was at a friend's farm in Mississippi and I was so taken by the bloom that I stopped the 3-wheeler I was driving, hopped off, and took a picture of it with my first little Kodak disc camera I had bought the week before. The picture isn't so hot, but it is still around in some old photo album somewhere.
