I love the American Memory from the Library of Congress website. When I have extra time, I most likely find myself there browsing through all the fantastic images.
I also have a fascination with the years encompassing The Great Depression and World War II. I am not sure why exactly though. I do know I prefer the modest houses built during that era over any others that may possess more elaborate detail, the jewelry alternatives, the magazines and catalogs of that time etc. For me, there is something more interesting in turning a page in a catalog to see information on Rations than turning the page to see the latest fashions from Paris etc.
Well, this week at the American Memory site, under 'War Military', I found this fantastic collection: America from the Great Depression to World War II: Photographs from the FSA and OWI, ca. 1935-1945
They have photographs spanning these ten years from every state (look your own home state up, its really worth it).
Below are a few from Louisiana, which I particularly liked for one reason or another.
