So, this morning I left at 7:30 a.m. to get some coffee and half asleep at a red light I turn to my left and this huge old Tudor style house that is completely surrounded by a retaining wall (I have never seen the gates open) was having a yard sale..inside the walls, on the grounds.
Well, I had to go, regardless of the fact that I was in my pajamas. I am too curious about this house, but also because I need furniture in a really bad way. We have 4 chairs in my house and that's it as far as seating goes.
I was in and out of the garage sale in 5 minutes flat. Used soft eyes to quickly scan the inventory and walked out with 3 pieces of furniture, for a total of $17.50.
These two chairs..heavy as hell and built super well were $5.00 each.
The first is a solid Captain's Chair and the second appears to be a 1950s Eero Saarinen for Knoll knock off?..It has a metal tag, circular with a 24 stamped into it:

.
And this fantastic tapered leg mid century (huge 20" high, 28" long) coffee or end table..has planked wood on top, bordered with a brass that has a lovely patina..and the second tier features really nice caning which is in really good condition. I got it for $7.50:

My heart skipped a beat when I saw it.
.
What an unexpectedly nice start to the weekend.

Ooh, those were some lucky finds!
Here's that chair again. I have a green chair and I'm trying to find out if it is a true Saarinen. Did you find any info on yours?
