Shipping , Stripping, and Painting

.

Today, I finally feel like the shipping times are almost back to normal. I was even able to change the shipping quotes for domestic from that awful 10 to 14 days to a much better 7 to 12. International orders are catching up too finally.

There is still alot to do in the stock room..and other day-lab organizational work (still looking for a little part time help too)...but, it is definitely looking better since before the move.

Towards the end of this week, we have some really lovely new designs from Little Ghost Designs to update the site with. These are the first new designs of many to come hopefully (since we may actually have some extra time soon to make them).

The painting in the living room this weekend went well, I didn't finish completely but do only have the trim/millwork to focus on this weekend.

Here are some progress photos...

This first shot is the space as it was when we moved in:

This shot is of the new wall color and some tiling I did to the fireplace surround:

I still have to finish stripping the cracking sealant on the hearth (and I am still not sure what I will do with it after that just yet), and applying the second coat of paint to the facing etc etc...but I think it is coming along nicely.

I am also torn on what to do with the windows...but I will save that for another post.

The back porch is currently housing several pieces of furniture I plan to refinish when time allows.

Over the weekend I pulled out the set of four 1930 deco chairs that have been stored away for the past 6 years waiting to be refinished and reupholstered. I think I forgot just how much I love the design. Not sure just yet what I will do them once I have stripped them down to their bare wood:

They remind me of some kind of hybrid of these 2 chairs, which I came across in my 1943 Montgomery Ward catalog the other day...

Oh, and lastly I wanted to link this..

By chance, I came across this site over the weekend, and got sucked in immediately. I wish I could purchase and save all of these houses. Aside from everything else that I enjoyed about the site, the photography is really beautiful too: Southland Historic Preservation
