Busy Bee!

.

It's been so busy the past two weeks.
Some photos of the more interesting and/or fun highlights..

June 7th was a full moon.
Kristen came over and we set up our tripods in the street.

.

June 8th, at Wings of Hope Leslie released two woodpeckers. Really wish I would have had my G9 to film their take off...next time I will remember to bring it with me.

.

Little Barred Owl.

.

I am fascinated with the bats.
A Yellow Bat mom and baby (underneath and out of sight):

..

I participated in the Breeding Bird Survey as Melanie's assistant on Monday the 15th. We headed out at 4:15 a.m. to parts of Louisiana I have never seen. It was so early and I was a zombie the entire time, but that was one of the prettiest sunrises I have ever seen..the fog was really beautiful too.

.

Monday night Brooks had a Chimney Swift's nest dislodge and fall, babies and all, down the chimney in his house (and to the floor). I headed out Tuesday morning to pick them up and bring them to Leslie. Watched another very pretty and foggy sunrise on the way. On this particular stretch of the highway there were a million spider webs in the tall grasses that looked, at first glance, to float..really neat.

.

I want to fuss at the Vet who wouldn't spay Farrah a few months back.
Three kittens have arrived. Going to contact Cat Haven this week and see when the next big Spay Day is so I can get them all, Farrah included, spayed and neutered. They sure are cute though...and I hope to find them good homes.

Male Kitty 1 (I call him Mutt)

Male Kitty 2 (I call him William)

Female Kitty 1 (Lo named her Penelope)

..

Lots of catching up to get started with now.

I'm a longtime reader of your blog and a big fan of the day-lab store --and I just wanted to say how beautiful your photos are. It's such a pleasure to see them! Thank you, Hilary

Hey Hilary-
Thanks so much! :)
Glad to hear you enjoy them both day-lab and the photos...I do appreciate it.
Take care-
Amy

William and Mutt have such peculiar faces! Can't put my finger on it...almost human like!

Please put William in a box and ship to Cape Cod. He's adorable.
I have a buff boy, Foxy, and he is the BEST cat I have ever had. I've heard many people say there is no better cat than a male orange/buff tabby, and I am now inclined to agree. If I lived there, I would take him in a heartbeat.

Your photos are gorgeous! After being a film photographer since high school, I FINALLY made the jump and bought a digiSLR. I am overwhelmed and feel like I have no idea what I am doing....

Your photography is just gorgeous. That second landscape picture in particular had me pause and take it in for quite a while. That pink sky is SO pretty.

And that bat is adorable. All of the animals are, but I love bats.

I'm so glad to see all this help for the animals!

And all the love for Louisiana :)

I live in New Orleans (5 years now) and I'm from Northern California originally. I've been reading your blog for a while. I'm putting together a Made In Louisiana list for locally made goods (sippy cups, jam, jewelry, ANYTHING) and hopefully will get funding for stickers to be put on all LA made products.

I'd love to add day-lab.com to the list! Let me know if that's cool :)

CRYSTI COUTURE-
I agree, especially with William (hence the human name)! :)

JESSICA-
He's on the way! I wish I could keep him for myself, actually. But four inside cats is enough as it is. :/
P.S. good luck learning the digiSLR! It is overwhelming, but once you learn the basics, it's soooo much more convenient than the analog, promise. :)

LISA-
Thank you! The pink sky was really fantastic.

d'Auria GROUX-HOLT-
How neat! Sure you can add day-lab to the list. Good luck with the project.
