.
I have been non stop busy since I got home from my business trip on Thursday of last week. Not much time for anything except work work work...and with the approaching holidays it may stay that way until the new year. :)
So, not much time to update here, except for day-lab updates. But, I had to post about David-Andersen, b/c I am in love now.
It started with this vintage enameled Blue Leaf necklace I put up on day-lab this past week (which sold in a day). I was so enamored with it..the fine enameling..the simple leaves...and to be honest, I kind of wish it wouldn't have sold so quickly, b/c I probably would have yanked it from the site and kept it myself had it sat there another day.
So, once it sold I looked around for info on blue leaves for a possible maker so I could track another down (it wasn't signed). I didn't find this one, but I did come across a lot of older David-Andersen (a Norwegian jewelry company that has been around since 1876) sterling silver enameled leaves...and they are fantastic. The enameling from David-Andersen is so wonderful...so well done.
They also made some fantastic enameled silverware and salt and pepper shakers...
...
I also realized I really love white enameling (with blue...but alone as well). It really is rather unique...
This is a vintage white/blue enameled brooch by Aksel Holmsen:

Ah well, when I have more time hopefully I can research all that a bit more...
Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Oh oh oh! I have a David Andersen blue and turquoise enamel heart necklace that my mom used to wear in the '70s. I saw another on ebay once and realized I also have a similarly styled butterfly by DA that belonged to my grandma. I love them! My heart looks like this.
Rebecca-
That DA heart pendant is in one of my jewelry books actually...I was flipping through it last night trying to locate more info on the enameled DA things. :)
It;s a nice design, I have the flat back version of it.

Is it crazy that I am falling in love with enamel teaspoons or whatever those are (can you use those or are they deco only?)?
I think they are the kind you keep in your china cabinet (like your fine silver that you keep with your fine china), you know?
i know i would never use them, i would be too paranoid they would get ruined! :)
That bracelet with the starburst design and flowers is so beautiful. I love the way that the metal texture paired with enamel detail can give such a sense of depth, it's a wonderful technique.
