I have been trying to come up with some ideas for a little Bailey memorial. Sifting through old black and white negatives wasn't what I had in mind..but rather something a bit more special.
I like the idea of silhouettes, b/c they are simple and classic and something that I can hand down to my daughter.
So, then there is question of digital art or classic paper cut art.
I have this recent profile that I took just for the purpose:

The first option is All Pop Art, which is computer generated. I could get a 16 x 20 stretched canvas piece for about $120 with a off white/black color scheme:

.
The second option would be Cut Arts, which is fantastic. I could get an 11 x 14 for $75.00, unframed.
The site states, "Each Silhouette is cut out entirely freehand. Karl simply looks at the subject's profile (whether in person or from a photograph) and starts cutting their exact likeness out of black paper. Each Silhouette is an original, one of a kind work of art, signed by the artist."

examples:

I really like the idea that these are hand cut and signed by the artist.
.
Anyway, I think both places are really neat and though I would pass along the info!

i think this is such a beautiful idea and a great way to remember a loved pet, the paper version reallyappeals to me most because it's such a classic technique and shows real craftsmanship. whichever you choose it's such a sweet idea and i'm sure it will look beautiful :)
What a wonderful way to memorialize a beloved pet. Whichever you choose, it will be great; what a strong profile!
Thanks for telling your readers about our website www.cutarts.com. As you mentioned, Karl's silhouettes are all cut free hand in the traditional way and not done on a computer.
Thanks!
Lauren
